Sunday Service

New Paraments-002We are excited you are considering joining us for our Sunday Service. Following is some helpful information to help you while you are visiting.

Morning Schedule:

Worship Service – 9:00 a.m. (Holy Communion celebrated every Sunday)
Bible Class & Sunday School – 10:30 a.m.

What to Wear:

We welcome you as you are – we want you to feel comfortable worshiping. There is no dress code. In the 8:00 & 10:30 a.m. Traditional Services, you´ll notice that the dress is a little more formal. You will see a number of men dressed in suits & ties, & women dressed in attire similar to “office wear”. However, it is ok dressing more comfortably & less formally– anything from “office casual” to jeans & sneakers.

Worship:

When you enter the sanctuary, you’ll be given a copy of the bulletin which has the week’s announcements & an outline for the day’s service. Hymns are sung in the Traditional Service using the Lutheran Hymnal. Ushers are available to help you find a seat.

Children in Worship:

We welcome & encourage family worship time. Children learn so much from attending worship with their parents—it’s the beginning of a legacy of setting time aside each week for worship. We provide Children’s bulletins which are located on tables just before you enter the Sanctuary. If your child should become restless, we do have an area where you can still watch the service while your child “gets the wiggles out”. Ask an usher to show you this space. Children ages two months through age 3 are welcome in the nursery, which is located just outside the Sanctuary. Parents are encouraged to take their Sunday School-aged children, 4 years & up, to their Sunday School class at 10:30 a.m. (Adult Bible classes are also offered at that time.)

Communion:

Communion (also known as the Eucharist or the Lord´s Supper) is God’s gift through which He acts to impart His forgiveness & strength to communicants. Lutherans believe that Christ’s true body & blood are present in, with, & under the external elements of bread & wine. If you have not been confirmed in an LCMS church, we ask that you speak with the Pastor prior to receiving the Lord’s Supper.

Offering:

There is an offering time, when members have the opportunity to offer their contributions to the church & its missions – as our guest, you are under no pressure to give.

After Worship:

Our Pastor & elders are available to greet you as you exit the sanctuary following services. Join us for a complimentary donut or a cup of coffee in Fellowship Hall from 10 – 10:30 a.m. & then stay for Bible Class & Sunday school afterwards. You’ll find lots of people sharing in fellowship in the lobby & our Fellowship Hall. Please take this opportunity to ask any one of our members for more information about OSLC! Information about OSLC & the various opportunities to become involved in are located in the lobby area of the sanctuary.
