Become His Voice, Hands, & Feet
We’re glad you are considering joining the OSLC family! Jesus said He came to give us abundant life & His free gift of salvation is offered to all. But we also have a great need to nourish & feed that faith by fellowship with other believers. Active church membership is an important part of our spiritual nourishment.
The Lutheran Church has a tremendous heritage of education. We believe that a thorough understanding of the basic Christian beliefs is an essential foundation every Christian should have. For children who grow up in the church, this education comes in two years of instruction known as confirmation. For adults joining the Lutheran Church at OSLC, we provide a Membership Class which provides instruction.
Church Membership Requirements
If you are transferring from an active membership in a LCMS congregation, you are not required to attend an Adult Membership Class. However, we strongly encourage you to participate in the class to allow you to meet others in a time of fellowship & to form a relationship with a member of our pastoral staff.
For those new to Lutheran Christianity, attendance in an Adult Membership Class is required for membership. The New Member Class provides an overview of Lutheran Doctrine, our beliefs, & what it means to be a Christian in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Additionally, we talk about OSLC’s values, mission & our ministry. Classes are held in the Fellowship Hall, & attendance at all sessions is required. If you are interested in membership, contact Pastor Meyer at 281-324-2422. Please indicate your childcare needs when registering.
Additionally, we encourage active participation in worship & Bible study for those desiring membership. Any adult, child or infant who has not already been baptized in the name of the Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) must be baptized on or before the date he/she is publicly received into membership.
